I have been providing Marriage and Family Therapy in Houston, Texas for the past 35 years. I have been working with couples to prevent or resolve the problems that surface in the course of their relationships. I believe it is normal for there to be problems in all relationships. Both partners had a life prior to starting the relationship and may come from different families, cultures, religions, social, economic, and educational backgrounds. What is normal in one family may not exist in, or might be a problem in another family. It is necessary for couples to learn how to work with each other in a respectful way to resolve their problems. Like a strong home, good relationships need a good foundation. I believe the foundation is made up of Communication, Trust, and Control. Being able to talk and knowing both partners understand each other cements the relationship. When a couple make decisions and their partner honors those agreements, they feel trust.
