All marriages have strengths and shortcomings. My approach with clients is to build the trust and strengths in your relationship while identifying and reducing those obstacles that trouble your marriage.

Generally with couples I schedule a 4-session evaluation which is a combination of meetings together with you and your spouse, and meetings with each of you alone. The goal of this formal evaluation is to gather the most information about your relationship and your individual histories. Then I can identify and help you build on your strengths as well as help you manage the impact of past life experiences.

After I have assessed the major problems and healthy resources in your marriage, I will work with you to make a treatment plan to improve your relationship. Marriage therapy works on improving communication patterns and increasing the trust relationship. Understanding one another’s experience is essential to becoming closer and happier in your marriage. All of these are taught and practiced in my marital therapy sessions.
