Marriage Friendly Therapists is a secular enterprise, with no connection to a religious denomination. We are delighted to have a range of therapists on the registry from across the religious spectrum, from openly religious therapists who incorporate their spirituality in their practice, to non-religious therapists who respects clients’ beliefs but do not share them.
We recently received an email from someone that shows why we are open to any or no religious background for marriage counselors:
“I am a Bible Study teacher at my church. Although our church has a
Caring Ministry with a list of qualified Christian counselors I am not
pleased with the list. When I am speaking to women outside my church I do
not have to go that route. I have read your paper and agree with your
perspective on many Christian counselors being “neutral”. “
