I have worked extensively with couples since 1978. I see my role as a therapist with couples as being close to that of a coach, teacher, facilitator, and resource-provider. I do not see my role as that of judge or jury. I help couples work together as a team to get unstuck, and I promote the healing of hurts and the growth of the individuals and the relationship. I encourage a mixture of acceptance and change, and I provide a lot of process tools and strategies to develop communication, positive and affectionate experiences that build a strong "emotional bank account", and conflict reduction. I am goal-oriented, compassionate, and appropriately challenging.

I do see couples for pre-marital education and coaching also.
