For the last 22 years of my career as a mental health professional, I have always believed that marriage is a powerful growth catalyst for a couple and working through problems can be rewarding and lead to a deeper relationship. I still occasionally work with couples alone, but in the past 5 years, after training with my husband, Barry Carl in the Exceptional Marriage Mentoring method, I find that our combined efforts bring much positive results. Couples appreciate the balance and safety found in the four of us solving problems together, and derive comfort and trust in Barry’s and my 25 year marriage. In Exceptional Marriage Mentoring, we work to awaken the spirit of compassion, mutual respect, appreciation and adventure in a marriage. It is a process of “couples helping couples.” We guide couples in the discovery of genuine intimacy, love and pleasure. We help couples in all stages of relationship in private sessions, workshops, groups and classes. We love teaching our Premarital “Launching the Exceptional Marriage” classes that prepare couples for their future together. We help couples with the myriad struggles that they will face in marriage, like financial issues, parenting (including special needs children), infertility and adoption issues, sexual issues, addictions, and reviving the sagging long-term relationship. We respect that individual empowerment in a marriage is crucial but not at the expense of connection and security. Our objectives are to actively help couples heal the wounds in their relationship and to help them find the deep, enduring and passionate connection that they yearn to share. Our vision is to help couples become true allies for each other.
