On a personal note, my wife and I have been married for 38 years and have five children. It has not always been easy but it has been worth it. I have been working with couples for over 30 years. I begin therapy by having each person complete several inventories which help all of us to more clearly describe the presenting challenges. I believe that most couples need to develop new skills in order to create a more satisfying marriage. Most couples are able to benefit from reading my book Time for A Better Marriage and working with the seven video series entitled Living Love that Pat Love and I created along with John Gray, Michele Weiner-Davis, Richard Stuart, Bill & Carleen Glasser, Harville Hendrix and Gay & Kathlyn Hendricks. I believe that therapy involves learning new ways to understand and accept each other and by co-creating new routines and rituals. I am pro-marriage and believe that people need to honor their commitment to remain married for better or worse. Staying committed allows the couple to get through the normal ups and downs of marriage.
