I enjoy being a therapist, but my passion is marriage/couples therapy! I believe the context of a committed or covenant relationship holds the potential for tremendous healing, as well as indescribable pain. Marriage invites us to stretch in ways we didn't know we needed to, and when the relationship is strong enough to hold the anxiety of two growing individuals, then the joy and passion are limitless.

That's why I attend to both the relationship and the Self: one needs a solid Self in order to have a solid marriage, which in turn provides a secure base to grow and strengthen one's Self. I believe in empowering clients to make changes in ways that take into account the whole person--body, mind, and spirit--and the systems to which they are committed. That empowerment may look different from one couple to the next, since some marriages are at crisis points while others may simply need a tune-up. Thus, I don't have a "formula" for therapy. Instead, I listen for your personal and relational strengths and sticking points. My experience with couple issues is wide: affairs, conflicts, dual-careers, present or past traumas, same-sex couples, decisions about whether to stay together, stepfamilies, and baby-boomers parenting adult children.
