I began my career in 1999 with an emphasis on working with children and adolescents, but as my experience with children grew I realized that it was often more helpful to work with their parents who were experiencing distress in their marriages. The parents' marriage is the template by which children form their views of how marriage and relationships work. While it can be hard to commit to the very hard work of marriage counseling, many parents are willing to do so if they believe they can offer hope for a different future for their children....and ultimately, experience themselves the peace and security that a healthy marriage brings.
As a Christian I work from a Biblically based perspective, and help clients to see how they can live out compassion, humility and forgiveness in a way that is honoring to each partner. I recognize that many people enter into marriage with a great deal of pain, which is often ignored or misunderstood, leading to more pain and emotional distance. A loss of physical and spiritual intimacy can leave couples who were once in love feeling like strangers. It is my goal to help couples reestablish the emotional, physical and spiritual intimacy they once knew or hoped for and live out the marriage God intended for them.
I am an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield MN and M.A. I will bill other insurances as an out-of-network provider. My office hours are Mondays (including evening) and Saturdays.
