Relationship counseling is at the heart of my practice. I work with couples at all stages (pre-marital, newly married, married with children, couples in retirement, etc.) who want to create or rediscover the positive power of an emotionally connected, intimate partnership. Just like individuals, marriages have developmental stages that often create stressful transitional challenges. Roles and expectations change and conflicts often erupt, creating relational distress, hostility, isolation. The solution to building the intimate connection you desire is understanding and changing your underlying negative patterns of engaging each other.

In my work I utilize an integrative problem-centered, solution-focused therapy approach, incorporating the work of several of the seminal leaders in the field, including John Gottman (Marital researcher), Sue Johnson (Emotion Focused Couples Therapy), and Dan Siegel, MD (Neuropsychology and Mindfulness). I work collaboratively with couples, utilizing their individual and relational strengths to build and rediscover strong and fulfilling relationships. Often times, our work will focus on learning new relational skills designed to reduce reactivity, improve connection, communication and conflict resolution skills, and most importantly, deeply engage each another in an intimate connection.

In addition to traditional couples/marital counseling, I offer the PREPARE/ENRICH/MATE structured couples assessment program.

I believe in the power of our closest relationships to support and heal us - and challenge us to grow. Give your children the greatest gift of their lives - a strong, caring, supportive marriage.
