Practice Profile Louise H. Alderson, MS, LMFT, CFLE Marriage is more than a lifestyle. It is a transforming event for each partner. A healthy marriage can enhance one’s physical health, mental health, economic well-being, and satisfaction with life. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I help married couples work through difficult experiences, learn how to resolve their differences, and enhance the potential for the growth of their relationship. Life offers couples many challenges and their journey can be more pleasant with opportunities to learn ways to smooth the path. Premarital counseling prepares a couple for their future together by addressing their similarities and differences and the effects these can have on their relationship. I also teach them skills that will help them with communication and solving problems that may arise. Beginning with a firm understanding of their relationship will help couples be prepared for a successful life together. My work with couples is influenced by a background in human development and family studies and a family systems theoretical foundation. I am able to help couples create the potential for a successful relationship that can last a life time. I am a Certified Family Life Educator through the National Council on Family Relations. I am also an instructor at Front Range Community College. My classes are Life Span Development and Introduction to Women’s Studies.
