I work as a Therapist, Educator, and Coach for couples who are married, or who are just starting in a committed relationship. While relationship success starts with love, long-term happiness needs more than love alone! It needs commitment and relationship skills to learn how to deal with differences, and to stay connected through tough times of transitions. Relationship skills help you explore and connect with your partner's world. With good skills you'll be able to create your couple-vision and be buddies for life in living that vision.

During the various stages of couplehood, I offer relationship skills education, consultation, and coaching. A few examples of these stages are: pre-marital, 2-year-itch, first-baby, unforeseen illness, mid-life blues, retirement and empty-nest. Transitions can make couples vulnerable to affairs. I teach couples how to prevent affairs, or how to pick up the pieces and rebuild a stronger relationship after one.

I teach and coach couples to balance their couple versus family-of-origin loyalty ties when they decide to become a couple or new parents. Step-parenting comes with its own loyalty conflicts which, with some coaching, can be negotiated in a healthy way for all involved.

I look at couples in a multi-generational context, helping them see the connection between their past learned behaviors and their current behaviors. I help them make positive changes that benefit not only their relationship, but also their (future) children.

My work is informed by the latest data about gender differences and about relationship and marriage success.
