Welcome

Choosing a therapist can be difficult, especially by reading a few paragraphs on a web site. It is important to find someone that you and your partner are comfortable with, someone who is respectful and fair, someone with helpful ideas for your relationship. If my background and experience seem like a good fit for you, please give me a call. I welcome your call and your questions. If you decide to schedule a first meeting, we will develop a shared understanding of the problem, develop an understanding of your hopes for your relationship, and then discuss a plan for you and your partner.

My Background

I have practiced family therapy for over 25 years and have worked with couples for over 20 years. I have a doctorate in psychology, am licensed in Oregon, and have served as President of the Oregon Psychological Association. I have received honors from a national behavioral health organization for superior results in a four-year study of therapy outcomes. I also have trained therapists throughout the United States how to use research-supported therapy methods.

My Experience

Over the years, I have helped couples resolve numerous challenging problems including communication problems, emotional distress (such as anxiety and depression), parenting conflict, medical stress, dual career pressures, family business challenges, infidelity, sexual problems, and the sadness of missing those early days of romance. I have helped couples address their problems, build stronger bonds, and work toward achieving their dreams.
