My firm belief is that most marriages can be healed and can grow if both partners are committed to improving their relationship. My focus is on the current obstacles to emotional intimacy and how past relationship experiences and personal histories interfere with it.
In my work with couples I am careful to listen closely to each partner as they share their perspectives about the marriage. It is essential that a safe atmosphere be created in sessions in order to allow for the emotional vulnerability essential for change to occur. I am convinced that even in the most heated and volatile relationships, both partners are desperate to make emotional contact with each other. My job is to help them unpack the patterns that interfere with this desire.
