I am a clinical social worker who has been married for over 3 years to my partner of 12+ years. I have more than 6 years of experience helping couples to strengthen their relationships and to get through the hard times. I work from a belief that relationships are necessary for good health. People grow in, through and toward relational connection, rather than through the separation and isolation we learn in the dominant Western culture.

I offer couples of all sexual orientations the opportunity to focus on the present moment, clarify their intentions, have successful conversations, and work toward their personal relationship goals. We work together to create an environment in which empathy, appreciation, and compassion can grow, healing occur, and lasting change take hold. I am committed to working in a collaborative and curious manner. My approach incorporates the couple's strengths and skills while teaching new skills, educating about patterns of interacting, fostering behavioral change, and using humor whenever possible. The work I do is uniquely informed by each couple.

In addition to marriage/couples counseling, I have over 18 years experience working with the LGBTQQI community and 10+ years working with issues around gender identity and expression. My gender work includes marriage/couples counseling to increase understanding and to ease transitions. My marriage/couples counseling with LGBTQQI couples includes, but is not limited to, managing relationships in a heterosexist society. I also have specialized training and expertise in group therapy, psychodrama, hypnosis, HIV, and the arts.
