Or, are you in the "third" marriage? You know, the one where you aren't "new and exciting" to each other, but find yourself desiring to renew and revitalize your marriage for this phase of life beyond the kids? Whichever phase you are in is the "best" time to work through these struggles. Whether you are seeking therapy to prevent a downward spiral, or are in a crisis of the heart, which may include an affair, addictions, sexual struggles, parenting conflicts or many other internal or external stressors, I believe I have the experience and expertise to help you. I offer you ways to understand and break the patterns which keep you on the downward spiral you want to stop, and help you learn more effective ways to communicate in a loving way to get the relationship you each desire. As a psychotherapist for over 30 years, I have specialized in couples therapy for most of my career. In addition to seeing couples in Sacramento and in Davis, I also teach and offer consultation to clinicians about their cases. In fall 2009 I will be offering couples therapy groups for "empty nesters". As an "empty nester" myself for 4 years, I know the challenges and rewards of working on developing a strong and mutually satisfying "new third marriage" with my husband of 24 years.
