I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT), employing what I consider to be state of the art techniques that allow for couples to identify their marital dance and create new healthy patterns of relating. This type of couples’ therapy is designed to reduce conflict and create tremendous empathy and softness of heart in the process of reconnecting at very deep levels. EFT is highly effective.
For couples looking for a “tune up,” weekly couples sessions may be quite effective. Couples in crisis may want to consider doing a week-long couples intensive fast track.
Couples coming in for counseling most often request help with Communication Skills. This is so common that it’s not IF it will be requested, but what it will be needed for: need to be able to talk with each other about child-rearing, aging parents, finances, personality conflicts, sex etc.
I have a well-developed system I use to teach couples these skills. I use this in my office with individual couples and teach it in workshops.
