Mental Health Awareness: Fight the Stigma

Mental Health Awareness: Fight the Stigma

During the month of May, Mental Health Awareness Month, we would like to bring attention to this important issue and encourage those who suffer in silence to seek help.

In recent years, the state of Oregon has seen an increase in mental health concerns for the residents of this beautiful west coast state. Studies show one in 18.5 adult Oregonians suffer from a mental illness. According to Lifeline Connections, one in about nine children in Oregon suffer from severe emotional disturbance, Portland suicide rates are three times the national rate and suicide is the leading cause of death among Oregon veterans aged 45 and younger.

As awareness continues to grow, so too do the opportunities to address mental illnesses. Marriage Friendly Therapists proudly represents over a dozen highly qualified therapists in the state of Oregon, and we encourage you to use the search feature on our site to learn about the services available to you. In the fight against the stigma of seeking help for mental health issues, quality therapy is a valuable tool to help alleviate this pandemic.
