About  Danielle Schlagel

With warmth, humor, and honesty, I strive to create a space where you can feel supported, seen, and safe to explore what life has thrown your way. Wherever you find yourself today, I can guide you along the path of understanding yourself and your relationships, helping you to feel open and appreciate what life can offer.

Much of my career has focused on issues around trauma, depression, parenting, anxiety, self-esteem, substance use, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. I enjoy the challenge of providing couples and family therapy throughout the relationship timeline- dating, premarital counseling, co-parenting, blending families, and marriage counseling through the years. My goal is to not be on either partner's side but on the side of the relationship. I'll fight for your relationship until you tell me otherwise. And if you are facing the end of a significant relationship, I'm here to help you walk through it with grace.

Sometimes our problems don’t seem to pop up until we’re faced with sharing our life with someone else. Have you been feeling disconnected, having the same fight over and over, or are worried your relationship is beyond saving? It is always possible to nourish your relationship, build middle ground, and fall more in love with your partner. I approach couples counseling with a clear goal in mind: using positivity to increase healthy communication and help couples turn toward one another. My approach is influenced by the research done at the Gottman Institute, as well as mindfulness practices in creating a closer connection.

I have a contemplative therapeutic approach, aimed at helping you gain awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so you can find acceptance and move forward. It is important to understand the neuroscience behind what is keeping you stuck, and I target my interventions to help you rewire your brain. Part of my job is to listen and understand, while the other part is to help hold you accountable and challenge you when you're getting stuck.

Please feel free to reach out. If you're looking for help, you're already on your path of healing.
