My name is Dr. Jaclyn and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have a Ph.D. in Counseling Studies. I bring over 10 years of experience working with a diverse clientele. I have helped individuals overcome numerous issues including stress and anxiety disorders, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, depression, behavioral issues and grief. My work also includes helping couples and families restore communication among other issues, such as divorce, separation and co-parenting and facilitating parenting classes. I am trained in Functional Family Therapy and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a Person Centered Approach. As a compassionate counselor, I am here to work with you on your journey to self care. I take my role as counselor serious and am dedicated to making this a comfortable and healing environment.
I offer my clients a safe and non-judgmental place to discuss their relationship challenges. I want both partners to have the opportunity to express themselves. It’s important to me that everyone feels heard and respected during our sessions. During counseling with me, I will not take sides, and will not show any bias towards one person.
We will spend some time during our counseling sessions discussing your past. This includes looking at possible things or events that are triggering your relationship insecurities or challenges. We will also talk about what’s happening in your relationship right now. I want to know what’s going well, and what’s not. Being able to identify your strengths and weaknesses will help me guide your treatment plan.
Then, we will work on learning new ways to improve your communication with your partner and handle conflict appropriately. After learning these skills, I may give you some outside work or activities to complete between sessions. This will help you and your partner engage with each other in a healthy way and increase your overall desire and intimacy.
My hope is that by getting couples therapy or marriage counseling with me, you will feel like you can trust your partner again. You will feel comfortable being open with them and trust that your needs will be met. I hope you will learn communication skills that improve the level of intimacy in your relationship and reduce conflict. I also hope you will have new tools to use when conflict does arise so it doesn’t escalate and become detrimental to your relationship.
My goal for therapy is you will feel like you’re a part of a team that’s working on improving your relationship through healthy communication. This will allow you and your partner to develop more respect and admiration for each other which offers you a renewed sense of hope for your relationship. Ultimately, I want the couples I work with to feel happy, secure, and fulfilled in their relationship.
