You have been doing everything in your power to push through. You’ve been unsuccessful in masking the pain and dulling the memories. You’re struggling with “stuck” points: the thoughts, feelings and memories that you can’t seem to get out of your head.
I may have something to soften the blow of these and ease your pain and suffering. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) (What is EMDR) which I have found to be very helpful in reprocessing trauma and overcoming an array of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, postpartum depression/anxiety symptoms and self-esteem. I incorporate this therapy into my work with individuals, adolescents, couples and families.
I also use various therapy styles to create an experience that is most beneficial and catered to each client. I believe we all have the story of our lives that we tell ourselves and this becomes the lens in which we view our world. I believe this story can change; we can rewrite and shift the perspectives to one that is based on our values and strengths. When we read and write our memoirs, we are able to see all different people’s approaches to coping and surviving what life throws at us. Therapy is a field where I am able to be see these memoirs being "written" first hand, reworking and reformulating the preferred narratives of our lives.
A fellow therapist shared that "one of the luxuries of our work is that it sustains idealism...therapists tend to grow fonder of humans the longer they are in the field”. The work I do allows me to be a part of the incredible process of growth and healing. My clients are able to work on the issues that have been weighing so heavily on them; to break the vicious cycles that stress, depression and anxiety can put us in. Together we can take the steps needed toward hope, change and action. To be able to provide services to fit any work and family schedule, I offer day and evening appointments.
