I have been working as a marital and couple therapist for many years. I have in depth training in marriage counseling, couples counseling, relationship counseling and individual counseling. I came to therapy through my education as a minister and then pursued graduate studies, earning a Ph.D. from Northwestern U in Chicago. In all my therapy work, my focus is on the development of healthy relationships based upon understanding of human and relational dynamics. I focus on discovering the strengths which people bring to the relationship.
Clients seem to find that I am non-judgmental and interested in understanding as a basis for moving forward. I value enduring and committed relationships whenever possible. Though I am willing and educated to deal with religious and spiritual issues, I have an open hearted attitude toward all regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, religious commitment, life experience, and life philosophies.
I tailor my approach to each client and couple. This is not a one size fits all approach. I utilize a variety of approaches based on many years of training, education, and my own life experience. As I often tell clients, I am willing to work as hard as you are to determine your goals and work toward them.
