About  Ingrid Melenbacker

TELE-MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY Is Offered in the Science -based Gottman Method Couples Approach.

Certified in the Gottman Method, I am committed to help couples build stronger friendships, manage differences respectfully, and support hopes and dreams. Four basic principles important to productive couples counseling are the ability to: prioritize your relationship; roll up your sleeves and willingly dig in; show up and participate in the process; and, be open to learning how to make yourself right for your relationship.  Masterful Couples is featured on Close-up Talk Radio: www.blogtalkradio.com/closeuptalkradio (see www.masterfulcouples.com)

You may be wondering where the spark has gone in your relationship. Your relationship or marriage once filled your life with laughter, friendship, joy, and love, and now you may be feeling sadness, frustration, possibly even hopelessness. It is worth saving, and couples therapy can help you through this rough patch. Every individual is capable of and deserves compassion and empathy and, therefore, greater love and health in your relationships.

I work with couples who have found themselves in a troubled relationship work through and overcome:

  • Infidelity
  • Intimacy
  • Communication
  • Co-Parenting & Parent-Child Conflict
  • Grief & Loss
  • Jealousy & Mistrust
  • Difficult Life Transitions
  • Financial Stress

I also have extensive experience in step-family transitions and in my personal life I am a stepparent.

Certified Gottman Therapist

I graduated SUMMA CUM LAUDE in both of my Master's in Counseling from GWU and Bachelor's in Conflict Management from SU and began conflict management in 1991 and clinical counseling work in 1999.

My couples training and certification are from the Gottman Relationship Institute in Seattle that integrates leading-edge research on relationships into practical, down-to-earth counseling for couples.    No other approach to couples therapy has relied on such detailed, comprehensive, scientific studies of why couples succeed or fail.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Board Certified Counselor and a Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist.  I completed Dr. Hallowell's "ADD in 2005" and Dr. Amen's "Breaking Free" program in anxiety-depression.  I offer unique skills for couples with ADD, depression, and anxiety, and infidelity challenges in their relationships.

You will find me easy to talk to and fair minded to both of you and that my practice is seated in a non-blame based approach to your work. I look forward to hearing from you and starting on a journey of repair and healing.

Feel free to visit my website to learn more about me. You are welcome to email me directly using this form, which is my preference, or call my office. I look forward to hearing from you and I’m here to help.
