I think going to marriage therapy is a healthy choice and I love working with adult individuals and couples of all ages / life stages. It is such an honor and joy to be a part of people's lives. Are All Marriage Therapists Good With Sex Therapy?

Most people expect that therapists are trained to help with sexual issues, yet the truth is that most therapists have never even taken one class in sexuality. My post graduate training and certification in sex therapy uniquely qualifies me to help you with this most intimate, sensitive, and important part of your life. (I basically have another half of a master's degree in sexuality studies). Sexual functioning issues are the couple's issue because both are affected by it. I help with the full range of sexual functioning issues - desire, arousal, orgasm, pain with sex, anxiety or confusion about sex, sexual trauma, and the grief and loss that comes with infertility, disability, or miscarriage. 

Treating The Trauma Of Cheating, Porn Addiction or Sexual Addiction

I also have a heart and calling to help couples who have been caught in the snare of sexual addiction - whether pornography or other acting out. Because of my personal story and the purpose in life that I have found because of it, and because I enjoy being part of a treatment team, I have made the choice to focus on working with the couple / the marriage relationship, and the betrayed wife, while referring the husband to a CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) or similarly trained professional. (I can also work with betrayed husbands in the case that the wife is the one who acted out - which is more prevalent than was the case 10 years ago). I know and have seen that if both partners are invested in the process, they can not only survive, but over time they can grow their relationship to a new level of intimacy they have not experienced before. Additionally, I lead a women's therapeutic and support group for those who have been betrayed by their partner's affair, porn or sex addiction, or narcissism , so please call to get the details. 

How Does A Therapist's Personal Worldview Impact Therapy?

In addition to their professional training, all therapists have a worldview. Mine is Judeo-Christian (true blue and not legalistic), but I have successfully and respectfully worked with people from all walks of life, including atheists.
