Do you find yourself having what seems like the same fight over and over again? Maybe you feel frustrated because you’ve tried everything to improve your communication but nothing has worked? Perhaps you’ve been hesitant to reach out for Marriage Counseling because you feel like you “should” be able to figure this out on your own?
All couples face patterns in their relationships that can create barriers to intimacy and solving problems. My role as a therapist is to help identify these patterns and the underlying reasons that keep you stuck. I will then support you in creating a safe and secure emotional relationship with your partner which will empower you to solve the problems in a healthy and constructive manner.
My therapeutic approach is based on an evidence-based approach to Couples Counseling called “Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)” developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. If you’re interested in learning more about this Couples Therapy approach or to get a jump start while beginning therapy, I would recommend reading Dr. Sue Johnson’s book “Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations For a Lifetime of Love.” For a perspective that includes a faith based description of this approach, I would recommend “How We Love” By Milan and Kay Yerkovich.
I believe that all couples could benefit from Couples Therapy at some point in their relationship. Call or email me today to get started on the path to a better relationship! I look forward to hearing from you.
